Due to building constraints it is often the case that a buildings wastewater cannot be drained via gravity to a connected sewer system. It is under these circumstances that a pump or sewage lifting station needs to be installed. The lifting station will 'Lift' the wastewater through pressure piping above the locally defined backwater level and then allow it to gravity feed into the connected sewer system.
